Nutritional advice for improving and maintaining your pet's general health and well-being.
As pet parents you show your love to your pet in different ways, one of which is ensuring they are well fed. When you feed your pet you are giving them sustenance to grow and develop, but it’s important to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need. With nutrition counselling our doctors examine the connection between your pet’s diet and their development. When your pet comes in for nutrition counselling, we formulate a diet that can give them maximum benefits.
Nutritional counselling is basically a nutrition checkup where veterinarians examine your pet’s diet to ensure it’s providing them with enough nutrients. The doctor will ask about eating habits, changes in appetite, their eating schedule or if they’ve had any reactions to certain foods. Based on the assessment we will make recommendations such as supplements or changes to their diet like reducing certain foods.
This depends on your pet’s overall health status and the end goal for your pet. Every pet should have at least one nutritional consultation per year. From the first consultation, our veterinarian will determine how often they need to come in based on your pet’s condition. If your pet is due for nutritional counselling, call us at 416-489-8387 to book an appointment.
Foods rich in vitamins, proteins, fats, minerals, and carbohydrates are generally recommended for pets. Because there are several brands, it can be hard to choose (especially if your pet has unique needs). To avoid being overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to ask one of our veterinarians for their recommendations. You can also check our online store for vet-approved food and treats for your furry friend.
