Vaccines at 6-8 weeks strengthen your kitten's defences. Protect your beloved feline from illnesses.
Vaccines give your pet protection from diseases that can be fatal. Having your new feline friend vaccinated should be one of the first things you do. Vaccines strengthen a pet’s immune system so they can ward off viruses, parasites and other issues. At our hospital, we offer a variety of vaccines (both core and non-core injections). Core vaccines are a must for all cats and non-core vaccines are specific to cats exposed to certain conditions.
As a kitten, your pet should begin their first round of vaccines when they are 6 to 8-weeks-old. These injections are administered every 3 to 4 weeks until they are approximately 16-weeks-old. When your kitten has completed these rounds of vaccinations, a year later they are due for booster shots. Boosters are usually given once every 2-3 years and our team will advise you when your pet needs them. When your pet is eligible for boosters, your veterinarian will discuss non-core vaccines that your pet may need.
Yes! Even though your pet is inside your home, they are still exposed to germs, parasites and other things that may harm them. It is important to remember that harmful germs and insects can enter the home through other animals and sometimes even humans. To schedule your indoor cat’s vaccines, please call 416-489-8387.
Not all cats are the same so it is difficult to guarantee your pet won’t have reactions. If your pet experiences any side effects they tend to be very mild symptoms like fever, lethargy, diarrhea and vomiting. These symptoms usually last up to two days and then your pet should be back to its usual health. If you have concerns about your pet’s reaction to their vaccine, reach out to us for instructions.
