A thorough examination of your cat or dog can ensure their continuous well-being and happiness.
Imagine going years without ever going to the doctor for a checkup. So many unknown issues could be depleting your health! This is what happens when your pet doesn’t have routine veterinary exams. A wellness check is important because each year your pet ages at three times the rate that we humans age. With regular veterinary exams, you will have the opportunity to learn about your pet’s well-being and are provided with tips on how to keep them in top shape.
Veterinary exams are physical assessments for your cherished pet. Our doctors check their development and growth to make sure there are no delays. We also test their heart rate, hearing, sight, check their temperature and examine their skin for any lumps. We also perform diagnostic tests like ultrasounds, X-rays and blood tests to identify any abnormalities. Based on the results we may discuss treatment and other forms of preventative treatments that may benefit your pet.
It is important that every pet has at least one veterinary exam. With one exam each year your veterinarian can detect any conditions that have developed in your pet since their last checkup. If your pet is a certain age or has a pre-existing health issue they may need more than one exam each year.
Puppies and kittens need three veterinary exams each year because they are more vulnerable to illnesses. This also allows our doctors to track their development. Senior pets should have two exams each year because at their age their bodies begin to weaken and fall victim to health issues. Routine exams allow us to catch early signs of illness, as well as monitor and treat any sickness they already have. To schedule an appointment for your pet, please contact us at 416-489-8387.
